"Mother and the Girls"
I have a master's degree in fine art from Radford University where I specialized portrait painting and ceramics. After graduation, I spent several years as an art teacher and advocate for Teacher Associations in Minnesota and Maryland and later as Associate Director in the Human and Civil Rights department of the National Education Association (NEA) in Washington D.C. Upon retirement from NEA, I rekindled my love of art by making Fiber Art and Art Quilt Portraits. Many of my works represent African American experiences and historical perspectives.
My art style is characterized by bold colors, fluid lines, and a sense of movement. I love to experiment with different mediums and techniques to create Art Quilts that are unique and expressive.
I believe that art has the power to heal, inspire, and transform. My goal as an artist is to create Art quilts that not only looks beautiful, but also resonates with the viewer on a deeper level.
